If you've turned off the ability to automatically connect to a Webex device or you're having problems connecting to it automatically, you can manually connect to the device instead.

In the app header, click Connect to a Device to view a list of nearby devices and select the device you want to use from the list.

If you select Search for a device, you can search for a device by name, and you'll also see a list of recent devices you've connected to previously.

If your device doesn't show up in the search results or you can't connect to the network to even search for the device, click Connect using 9-character code. Then, enter the code that's on your device and click Next.

When the PIN displays on the device, just enter it in Webex. If you're in a meeting room with several people, you all use the same PIN to connect your app to the device.

You must enter the PIN that displays on the device. You cannot use the Host PIN for Webex Meetings.

The PIN remains valid for 5 minutes after it first displays. So, if you make a successful connection, you won't be asked for the PIN in any additional attempts within that 5 minute period.

If you try to connect after 5 minutes, you have to enter a new PIN.

Your administrator can configure devices on your network in various ways. You can have on-premises devices or cloud devices. These devices can appear the same and you can connect to them using ultrasound.

Connecting to Devices

Cloud devices—You can connect to a device using ultrasound. For more information, see Automatically Connect to a Cisco Webex Device from Cisco Webex. You can also connect using the following:
- Search for devices that are nearby and choose a device to connect to. For more information, see Find and Connect to Nearby Cisco Webex Devices from Cisco Webex.

When you connect to a device you can use it in the following ways:

Share your screen locally, you can only share audio and optimize video when you use a cloud device. For more information, see Share Content Wirelessly from Cisco Webex to Cisco Webex Devices .
Call somebody using the device and you can use the Webex app to control the device. For more information, see Webex | Call Someone from a Direct Message .

Answer a call from somebody using the device and you can use the Webex app to control the device. For more information, see Answer a Call in Cisco Webex.

Some Webex devices that you connect to may not be enabled for calling. If you try to make a call while connected to this kind of device, you'll see an error message in Webex telling you to disconnect and use another device or your app to make the call instead:
