Up until now you’ve been using PyCharm Community. Since the “Backend Technologies” class is starting soon, it’s time for you to upgrade to the next level of coding 🙂
To further develop your programming skills, we’ve provided you with a code for 6 months of free access to PyCharm Professional version.
Step-by-step guide:
1. Go to: https://www.jetbrains.com/store/?fromMenu#personal?billing=yearly
2. Find the “PyCharm Professional” product and choose “Buy now”.
3. Enter an email address that hasn’t been used previously, not even to download a trial (the code we’re providing works only with new user accounts).
4. Choose your country, then read and accept JetBrains Account Agreement, and click „Proceed as new customer”.
5. Make sure the „Personal annual subscription” option is chosen.
6. Look for the „Have a discount code?” field and input your code there to activate your free 6-month subscription.
7. Provide your first and last name.
8. Choose „I have read and I agree to the JetBrains Account Agreement, JetBrains Purchase Terms, and Toolbox Subscription License Agreement” option.
That’s it!
Now check the email you’ve entered. The guide on what to do next sent to you by Jet Brains should be there already.
Remember: DO NOT activate the code before the start of the „Backend Technologies” class. Otherwise you’ll lose the access to the Professional version before the course ends.

PyCharm is a software product that includes tools and integrations for professional Python and Web development.
JetBrains, the manufacturer, offers a Student License for PyCharm. Each Vanderbilt faculty and student is eligible to apply for a free PyCharm Student License. You may use a Student License for teaching, coursework, and academic research.
