For Android devices, you can choose between the Android Enterprise and Device administrator (legacy feature) management modes.

Android Enterprise
  1. Sophos Central, including Sophos Mobile, Endpoint, Server, and network security A complete Unified Endpoint Management (UEM) solution allowing you to manage iOS, Android, and Windows Mobile devices, as well as Windows 10 and macOS computers Sophos Container for email, documents, and web content on iOS and Android A flexible self-service portal.
  2. Device management allows you to reset the firewall configuration to factory default, check the firmware versions currently installed, access the advanced shell, and flush reports stored on the appliance. Device management is accessed from the main menu under Option 5 Device Management. The available options under Device Management are as follows.
Sophos Mobile Control is the device or profile owner and uses Android Enterprise to manage a device or a work area on the device.

Sophos Mobile Control is a device administrator and uses Android mobile device management (MDM) to manage a device. Google now deprecates the device administrator management mode and is reducing its range of functions. We recommend that you use the Android Enterprise management mode instead. To set the Android management mode, do as follows. Applies to the following Sophos products and versions: Sophos Firewall, Sophos Firewall Manager. List of ports for Central Management. From your Sophos XG Firewall device, go to Administration Central Management and then click Enable Central Management. Refer to the table below for the default values of the different parameters. Sophos Mobile ControlManagement is a device administrator and uses Android mobile device management (MDM) to manage a device.

Google now deprecates the device administrator management mode and is reducing its range of functions. We recommend that you use the Android Enterprise management mode instead.

Sophos Management Communications System

To set the Android management mode, do as follows:

  1. On the menu sidebar, under SETTINGS, select Setup > Android setup and then the Android tab.
  2. In Management mode, select the management mode for Android devices.
  3. Click Save.
Device

This setting affects which policy types are available in the user interface.

You must set up Android Enterprise for your organization before you can enroll devices.
